A love of life and learning...

At Beedon CE Primary School, we follow the Cornerstones Curriculum 22 to teach topic, which includes art, technology, history, geography and science. Termly curriculum information letters are sent home to parents for each new topic.  Our chosen curriculum ensures our children have access to their full entitlement of national curriculum subjects which are carefully sequenced to build on skills and knowledge over their time at Beedon.  Our teachers adapt the lesson content to ensure it is well matched to pupils' ability meaning that all pupils have access to a knowledge rich curriculum.

In Maths and Literacy, we follow the 2014 National Curriculum. Wherever possible, links are made to our topic so that we can practise our Maths and Literacy skills. Phonics and spelling are taught daily.  We use the Read Write Inc Phonics programme to teach Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2.

We follow the West Berkshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.

PSHE and RSE is taught through the Coram SCARF scheme of work which is fully compliant with all statutory requirements.    We introduced this to support pupils' emotional well-being and resilience after lockdowns.

Our pupils have access to laptops, tablets and programmable devices to support their ICT learning and programming skills following the Purple Mash Scheme of work.

In addition to our curriculum music lessons, all pupils have the opporuntity to learn an instrument during their time with us.  Individual lessons are available on our site through Berkshire Maestros and Hogan Music.
