Pupil Premium Grant
Our pledge for disadvantaged pupils
In line with our Christian Vision, every pupil at Beedon CE Primary School will be supported and challenged to develop a love life and learning and enjoy "life in all it's fullness."
To do this we pledge that:-
- Every child will receive quality first teaching. Our staff are well trained and passionate about providing the best for every child; the outcomes, progress and provision for our disadvantaged pupils will be at the forefront of all monitoring and evaluation.
- We will do everything we can to identify the challenges faced by our disadvantaged pupils in order remove any barriers to their learning to include learning needs, emotional needs and improving attendance.
- Every pupil will be taught the key skills needed to support them across their time at Beedon and in the next steps of their education.
- We will offer pastoral support which is nurturing and firmly rooted in our school values and which will support our children to keep themselves safe and take their place in the world we live in.
- We will actively encourage our disadvantaged pupils to try new experiences and have high aspirations of what they can achieve. Every disadvantaged pupil will be offered the opportunity to join in aspirational sporting and enrichment activities, trips and clubs.
The pupil premium was introduced in April 2011. This is additional funding for children from low-income families who have been eligible for free school meals in the past 6 years ("Ever 6"), Looked After Children and those from families in the Armed Forces. The pupil premium is intended to support pupis to accelerate progress, raise attainment and increase participation in activities in the wider curriculum.
At Beedon we use this funding in numerous ways to enhance these children's life chances. This can include paying for them to attend school trips, such as a visit to a museum or residential trip, specific ELSA pastoral care, individual intervention programmes, after school clubs and music lessons.
We are pleased to report that children in receipt of this funding are reaching average or above average attainment - owing to our small cohorts we will not report actual data to protect the identities of individual pupils. Parents are welcome to speak to our Headteacher to seek further information.
Although a 3 year template is used, our strategy is reviewed annually and published on our website by the end of December each year.
